Nami sighed while leaning on the railing in front of the main mast. Down on the lawn of the Thousand Sunny Luffy and Usopp were playing tag, yet they were missing one person.

“Naaaaamiiiii-swaaaaan!!! <3<3<3” Sanji crooned. “What’s wrong? Do you need a refill on your drink?<3”

“No,” Nami responded. “I’m a little concerned about Chopper.”

Sanji snapped out of his flirtatious behavior and asked, “Why?”

“Ever since we set sail from Dressrosa, Chopper has been less interactive with the crew.”

“True. There have been many times where he’s asked me to save him some dinner and leave it in front of his infirmary.”

“He’s always trying to sneak around, and doesn’t want anyone entering his infirmary on the ship.” Nami continued frowning while she thought.

“I don’t think he’s slept in our room since the last island. He’s always asking for glasses of milk, though. Perhaps Chopper is having insecurities about his size?” Sanji also leaned on the railing next to Nami, musing over the same changes in Chopper.

“Or Chopper’s Monster Point has grow out of control, and can only be assuaged by milk.” Sanji and Nami jumped from Robin’s morbid comment. She continued talking. “Or Chopper is hiding a secret from the rest of the crew.”

“Now that you mention it, he’s as bad as Luffy when it comes to keeping secrets or telling lies,” Nami murmured.

“Chopper has a secret? I want to know!” Luffy appeared out of nowhere, passing by his musing nakama straight to Chopper’s door. “CHOPPER! CHOPPER! WHAT ARE YOU HIDING?”

    “N-n-nothing! Go away!” Chopper squeaked.

“NOT TILL I KNOW YOUR SECRET!” Luffy began stretching his head around to the window of the infirmary.

“NO! I can’t tell anyone until my patient is better!”

“Patient? When did Chopper get a patient?” Zoro had come down from the crow’s nest to see what Luffy was yelling about now. By this point, the whole crew was outside Chopper’s door.

“I-I didn’t! Shoo!” Chopper’s voice was chittery with nerves.

“BUT YOU SAID YOU HAD A PATIENT! WHO ARE THEY?” Luffy shouted through the door.

    “Nobody! I have nobody!”

“But why haven’t you been playing with us?” Usopp asked.

“I haven’t been feeling very well. Cough cough.”

“Why have you been avoiding everyone?” Nami questioned.

    “I-I’ve been busy studying.”

    “While you’re sick?” Brook interjected.

    “Aaaaaaaahhhhhh… yes. Cough.”

“Are you sure it isn’t a deadly disease that will decompose you innards while you’re alive?” Everyone shied away a little from Robin.

    “Yes! Now leave me alone!”

“But why?” Luffy asked. His earlier venture with the window didn’t work.

“I need to make sure everything goes well!”

“With what?” Franky scratched his head in confusion.

“Nothing! Shoo! Go away! Leave me alone!” Chopper was outright frantic at this point.

    “But Chopper…” Luffy whimpered.

    “No!”

“Then I won’t leave till you tell me!” Luffy sat down in front of Chopper’s door in a huff. Since neither Luffy or Chopper were willing to move on this subject, the rest of the crew went back to doing their normal activities.

As the day wore on, Luffy heard strange things coming from Chopper’s infirmary. Every one in a while, he thought Chopper was talking to himself, but he couldn’t figure out why he’d respond by mewling to his own comment. After sitting there for half a day, Luffy came up with a simple plan to go hide and wait for Chopper to come out. Luffy stayed there for the rest of the day. For him, this stakeout was the toughest thing he’s ever done. He willingly missed lunch and dinner! But, he was rewarded when Chopper peeked out. When he thought no-one was around, he rushed off to somewhere else on the ship, giving Luffy all the time he needed to find out what was in the infirmary. Quietly opening the door, Luffy couldn’t see anything unusual. He was about to shut the door when something rushed past his leg. Luffy looked in the direction he thought it disappeared to, and went off to look for it. He tried to find the thing from Chopper’s infirmary, but fell asleep looking inside a barrel where he thought it disappeared into.

The next morning, Chopper’s scream made a wonderful ship-wide wake up alarm. Everyone (but Luffy) rushed over to Chopper, who stood mortified at the entrance to the infirmary.

“What’s wrong?” Brook asked with a frown.

“My patient… she’s gone!” Chopper paled at the thought of his patient wandering loose on the ship, where she could get even more hurt that they had been.

“Chopper, I didn’t know you were hiding a lady!” Sanji seethed at the thought of missing a woman so close by.

    “She’s not human!”

“Is she a ferocious beast who’ll tear us a part, limb by limb, while we’re not looking?” Robin asked nonchalantly.

“Is it?! I have a severe allergic reaction to being torn a part!” Usopp began shaking uncontrollably at the thought.

    “No! She’s-“

“Was that was the thing that came out of the infirmary last night? COOL!” Luffy suddenly interrupted. Everyone was silent for a few moments, marveling at the simplistic stupidity of their captain, who currently had stars in his eyes.

Usopp was the first to react, hitting Luffy in the back of the head while screeching, “How is that a cool thing?!”

“We can have a hunt for it on the ship!” Luffy smiled at the thought of the new game.

    “But- but- but- “Usopp stuttered.

“Yosh! Let’s go!” Luffy ordered. Before Chopper could move, however, Luffy stopped him. “You should stay here.”

    “Why?!”

“Because you didn’t tell everyone sooner about trying to nurse a deadly thing back to health.”

    “But-!”

“Nope. Stay here.” And with that, Luffy rushed off to hunt the thing that ran out last night. Throughout the ship, everyone was busy looking for anything suspicious or lethal. Many times, they caught glimpses of a swift moving shadow, usually running around a corner or out of sight. Soon everyone came back to outside the infirmary, where they saw the shadow enter through a crack in the door. Before the thing could close the door and attack Chopper, Luffy stretched his hand out to stop the door. A few moments later, everyone was looking in the infirmary to find the thing that ran in there earlier. But the only thing present was Chopper.

    “Where’d it go?” Luffy asked.

“I-I don’t know.” Chopper held his hands behind his back.

“Are you possibly hiding it behind your back?” Zoro growled.

“No!” Chopper brought his hooves forward to show nothing was in them.

“Where’d it go?” Luffy asked again.

“I don’t know. Maybe it flew out the window when you weren’t looking?” Chopper was sweating bullets.

“Really?!?!” Luffy zoomed around to see if anything was flying away out the window with enough force to knock Chopper’s hat off his head.

“Ah!” Chopper tried to get his hat back, but was stopped by Sanji.

“Is it hiding in your hat?” he asked.

    “N-no!”

“Why are you getting defensive about it?” Sanji pressed.

“Because… ah… because… LOOK! FLYING FISH!” Chopper pointed off the back of the ship. Everyone looked but Luffy, who turned back around saying, “But I didn’t see any flying fish…”

Suddenly everyone heard a mew. Turning back, Usopp asked, “Wh-who made that?”

“I did!” Chopper jumped in. “I’ve been practicing! Look! ‘Mew’.”

“That sounds nothing like what we heard!” Usopp yelled. As Chopper kept trying to convince everyone the earlier sound was him, Luffy knelt down to the level of Chopper’s hat. He continued staring at it, and his eyebrows rose when the hat shifted. He tried poking it, which responded with another “mew.”

“COOL! Chopper found a mystery hat! Can you understand me? Can you poop? Become my nakama!” Luffy rushed through excitedly.

“But-“ Before that person could finish their response, Chopper’s hat wiggled around some more. It lifted up a little, and then a little nose peeked out of the edge of the hat. Soon a full face popped out.

“A CAT?!?!” Nami and Usopp cried out, jaws comically dropping.

“Kitten.” Chopper responded. “She’s only over a year old.”

C-cute… Robin thought, with the lightest blush on her cheeks.

“Why didn’t you tell us sooner?” Brook asked.

“Well, I thought I’d heal her and drop her off at the next island, but I grew attached to (name)…”

“Her name is (name)?” Sanji asked.

    “Yes…”

Nami snapped out of her shock, and told Chopper, “You know we can’t keep a pet on the ship. We can’t afford-“

“Will you become my nakama (name)?” Luffy interrupted.

You decided to get out from under Chopper’s hat to answer Luffy. You struggled a little bit, and ended up tumbling towards Luffy’s face. You touched noses by accident, which caused you to involuntarily sneeze before sitting up. Everyone watching (except Luffy, who was patiently waiting your answer) couldn’t help but think how cute it was. After sitting up as tall as you could, you simply said, “Mew.”

“(name) said yes!” Chopper was beaming.

    “But, Luffy-“ Nami started.

“You realize there’s no changing his mind on these things,” Zoro reminded her.

    “But-“

“Yay! We have a new nakama! Time for a party!” Luffy had picked you up and walked out, giving Nami no chance to say otherwise. After seeing everyone around you smiling, Nami shrugged with a sigh, then joined the rest of her crew.

I've wanted to get this idea out into the world, and now I am grinning while dying from fluff overload (Oh, here they com... Someone called an ambulance!) . This is my first time writing for characters in One Piece, so sorry if anyone seems OOC. I don't own anybody.

( Here's you, by the way -> Kitty Cat 2 )
